Công nghệ nhiệt điện khí thiên nhiên hóa lỏng (LNG)

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) là khí thiên nhiên được hóa lỏng khi làm lạnh sâu đến âm 162 độ C sau khi đã loại bỏ các tạp chất. LNG có thành phần chủ yếu là methane. Do chỉ chiếm 1/600 thể tích so với khí thiên nhiên ở điều kiện tiêu chuẩn (15 độ C, 1 atm), LNG là sản phẩm khí thuận tiện cho việc tồn chứa, vận chuyển từ nơi sản xuất đến các thị trường tiêu thụ trên thế giới. LNG được sử dụng tương tự như khí khô phục vụ cho nhu cầu khí của các nhà máy điện, hộ công nghiệp, khu đô thị. Hiện nay, ở nhiều nước trên thế giới LNG còn được sử dụng làm nhiên liệu cho các phương tiện giao thông vận tải: tàu biển, tàu hỏa và xe vận tải nặng để giảm thiểu ô nhiễm môi trường.
