Omicron là một biến thể mới của virus Sars-cov-2, nó có khả năng lây nhiễm cao so với các biến thể khác như Alpha, Beta, Gamma và Delta. Nhiễm biến thể Omicron thường ít gây ra bệnh nghiêm trọng hơn. Dữ liệu sơ bộ cho thấy biến thể Omicron có thể gây ra bệnh nhẹ hơn, mặc dù một số người vẫn có thể mắc bệnh nặng, cần nhập viện và có thể tử vong do nhiễm biến thể này. Đến nay, Omicron được các nhà khoa học gọi là “biến thể tàng hình” với các biến thể phụ của nó và để hiểu thêm mức độ lây lan nguy hiểm của biếm thể này, Cục Thông tin KH&CN quốc gia xin giới thiệu một số bài nghiên cứu đã được xuất bản chính thức và các bài viết được chấp nhận đăng trên những cơ sở dữ liệu học thuật chính thống.
